Programme suggestions

Vera and Madieke like to set their programmes on particular themes. Examples of this include ‘Romance Féerique’, an attractive programme with French composers, ‘¡Habanera!’ which includes authentic habaneras, and their most recent Italian programme, ‘Amore e Morte’.

Romance Féerique

An enchanting and poetic programme entirely dedicated to French music from the Romantic and Impressionistic periods. Works include those by Fauré, Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc and Tournier.

This dance had its origins in the 19th century in the Cuban capital Havana. It is clearly recognisable by its characteristic rhythm, and became so popular that it became an inspiration for European composers. Works include those by Iradier, De Falla, Guridi, Viardot, Weill and Ortiz.

Amore e Morte

Where is the urge to express one’s feelings stronger than in 'la bella Italia'? For centuries, composers gave voice to their feelings of love and mourning in their music. From Monteverdi to Rota; this is a programme full of expressive virtuosity and lyrical bel canto. Further works include those of Scarlatti, Pergolesi, Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini.
